Five demands from representatives of taxi drivers were agreed at a government meeting, which is why the protests stopped, Cristian Coman, chairman of the Bucharest- Ilfov Taxi Drivers Association told AGERPRES on Wednesday.

"At the meeting with the government, the five demands that we made were approved. We were promised that there would be a social dialogue on the five demands that we requested. We are also waiting to see an official document in this regard. For the time being, the protests have stopped," said Coman.

He added that there will be further discussions at the Ministry of Transport to reach a consensus regarding the legislative amendment for one point, namely the limitation of certified copies.

More than 500 taxi drivers protested on Wednesday, between 9:00hrs and 14:00hrs, in Piata Constitutiei and Piata Victoriei.

The representatives of the Bucharest - Ilfov Association of Taxi Drivers also requested compliance with Article 6 of Law 204/2019 regarding the taxation of rides and commission fees through a fiscal entity registered with the National Companies Registry with the suspension of the technical approval until it enters into law.

Also, the taxi drivers demand the removal of the possibility of issuing certified copies for cars owned by operators on a loan or rental contract, raising the authorisation threshold to the age of the car, minimum E6, prohibiting wrapping or the application of local regulations regarding advertisements on passenger cars and digital platforms, as well as the elimination of the "dynamic tariff" in line with the recommendations of the Competition Council regarding misleading practices.
