Romanian tennis player Irina Maria Bara on Thursday qualified for the quarterfinals of the ITF tournament in Wesley Chapel (Florida), equipped with total prizes worth 25,000 US dollars, after she defeated Kerrie Cartwright (Bahamas), 6-1, 6-2.
Bara (22), world's no. 183, needed one hour and 12 minutes to surpass a 25-aged opponent, world's no 1,159.
In the first round, Bara defeated Brazilian Paula Cristina Goncalves (27, WTA' 478), 6-4, 6-1.
Bara, seed no. 2 will play the quarterfinals against American Maria Sanchez (28, WTA's 274).
