Romanian tennis player Jaqueline Cristian, the second seed, qualified on Tuesday for the round of 16 of the UniCredit Iasi Open (WTA 250) tournament, with a total prize pool of 239,212 euros, by defeating Russian Daria Lodikova 6-1, 6-4.
Jaqueline Cristian (27 years old, no. 51 WTA) won after one hour and 33 minutes against an opponent who came from the qualifiers (29 years old, no. 415 WTA).
The two players faced each other in 2019, at an ITF tournament in Minsk, in the round of 16, with the Romanian having won 6-3, 6-3.
Jaqueline Cristian secured a cheque for 3,624 euros and 30 WTA points, and in the round of 16 she will meet Croatian Jana Fett. Cristian won both previous matches with Fett (28 years old, no. 151 WTA)
