Romanian tennis player Simona Halep, third seeded, qualified on Thursday for the 3rd round in Roland Garros, the second Grand Slam of the year, after she defeated German player Tatjana Maria (WTA's 102nd) in two sets, 6-4, 6-3, in one hour and 22 minutes.
In the next round, Simona Halep will play against Russian Daria Kasatkina, seeded 26th, who won 7-6 (1), 6-4, to Czech player Marketa Vondrousova, who came from qualifications.
For the qualification in the third round, Halep secured a 118,000-euro cheque and 90 WTA points.
