The Ministry of Culture announces the start of the organization of management project competitions for subordinate public cultural institutions.

"After a period in which the annual evaluation calendar was suspended, as a result of administrative decisions and consultations regarding a possible revision of the legal framework, we are resuming this important process. Starting with July, we will start the annual management evaluations for the subordinate public cultural institutions that operate on the basis of approved management projects. Evaluating managerial performance is not only a legal obligation, but also an expression of respect for the public, for the cultural mission of each institution, but also for the staff that contributes to their vitality. We want these evaluations to provide a clear and balanced picture of the activity in cultural institutions, but also real support in the process of their strategic development," the ministry said on Friday, in a statement sent to AGERPRES.

According to the cited source, interim leaderships represent "a frequent administrative reality, which, prolonged for too long, has become a vulnerability both at the central and local levels."

"The Ministry of Culture considers that managerial stability is a key condition for the sustainable development of public cultural institutions. That is why, between August and December, on a monthly basis, we will launch management project competitions for institutions in interim management, with the exception of those that have ongoing litigation regarding the application of the special law. We aim to select managers with experience, integrity and vision through these competitions, capable of ensuring a sustainable and efficient development of cultural institutions. The evaluation procedures and management project competitions will be carried out in compliance with the principles of transparency and fairness in order to prevent subsequent litigation, generated from their absence," the ministry specifies.

The Ministry of Culture reiterates its firm commitment to promoting responsible and professional public management in all subordinate institutions and announces that it will initiate an amendment to the applicable special law, in the form of a legislative initiative of the Government, in the next parliamentary session, after consulting all those involved, the resulting normative act to produce legal effects after its approval by the Romanian Parliament.
