The Union Train set to leave on Dec 1 from Bucharest heading for Iasi

The Union Train, pulled by a tricolour engine (painted in the colours of the Romanian flag), is set to leave from Bucharest for Iasi, on 17:50 EET, and to return to the Capital City in the same day, CFR Calatori company informs on Thursday. "On Friday, December 1, the railway employees, alongside all Romanians, celebrate 99 years since the Great Union and at the same time the entry into the Centennial year. As the train connects in Romania historical moments, people, destinies, regions, CFR Calatori, one of the Romanian strategic companies, will get involve in the project meant for the celebration of the Great Union.

Thus, in marking this event, CFR Calatori will symbolically name for one day the IR 12661 train The Union Train. The train will be pulled by a tricolour engine and it will depart from the Northern Station in Bucharest heading to Iasi. The tricolour engine will take The Union Train to Iasi and back in the same day," says a release of the company.

The passengers in the largest train stations will also receive a tricolour symbol when buying their tickets, on the occasion of the Great Union celebrated on December 1. "It is very clear that developing the railway system is one of the important stakes of the future. And not just because the train represents one of the most friendly options for the environment, but also because it is a much better transportation means. Traveling by train brings together destinies, peoples and places. I wish all Romanians to have wonderful travels and, for the Great Union Day, I wish them Happy Birthday!," said the general manager of CFR Calatori, Iosif Szentes.
