Three Ethiopian citizens were discovered by Arad border police officers in the trunk of a car checked on their way out of the country through the Nadlac II Border Crossing Point, the driver being investigated for smuggling migrants.
"A 33-year-old Moldovan citizen showed up for border formalities on the way out of the country. The man was driving a car registered in Moldova and was going to Germany. On the basis of the risk profile, a thorough check of the means of transport was carried out, after which the border police discovered three foreign citizens in the trunk of the car," Arad Border Police informed on Monday.
Following the investigation, it was found that the Ethiopians were aged between 22 and 29 and had entered Romania legally.
The driver is being investigated for smuggling migrants, while the Ethiopian people are being investigated for attempted fraudulent crossing of the state border.
