The three-month ROBOR index, based on which the cost of consumer loans in RON with variable interest is calculated, increased on Tuesday to 7.15% per year, from 7.10% per year in the previous session, according to data published by the National Bank of Romania (BNR).
At the beginning of this year, the index was 5.92% per year, but it started to increase on May 6, two days after the first round of the presidential elections, when it rose to 6.08% per year.
The six-month index, used in calculating interest rates on variable-rate RON mortgages, rose to 7.24% per annum, from 7.23%, in Monday's session, and the 12-month ROBOR increased to 7.34%, from 7.31% previously.
Regarding the reference index for consumer loans (IRCC), regulated by GEO 19/2019, it is 5.55% per year, being calculated as the arithmetic average of the daily interest rates of interbank transactions in the fourth quarter of 2024, down from the previous quarter's rate of 5.66%.
