The Culinaria Banatica readings will continue on Friday with a new event, at Gratarul cu Staif in Piata Unirii, Timisoara, where organisers set to explore the fascinating theme of local culinary identity together with guests initiated in the art gastronomy, from traditional to modern.

"From traditional to modern, cultural mixtures and challenges in the culinary industry; all will be discussed in an animated and informative dialogue, and the moderator of the meeting, Caius Mersa, will gear the discussion towards intriguing topics related to the traditions and evolution of the local cuisine," organisers of Culinaria Banatica said in a press statement released on Thursday, agerpres reports.

Oana Irina Coanta, invited to Gratarul cu Staif, has a passion for local culinary traditions, being attracted by the professional kitchen. Alongside her will be Cosmin Dragomir, gastronomic journalist, co-author of "Dulce Romanie - o istorie a deserturilor de la noi" (Sweet Romania- a history of our desserts) and winner of the Gault & Millau Award of the National Association of Tourism Chefs and Confectioners.

Discussed at Friday's meeting will be cultural mixtures, how various cultural influences have contributed to the formation of the unique gastronomic identity of the Banat area, exclusivity of local products, how the trends to promote and present local products are developing in a unique and exclusive manner.

Culinary tourism will not be forgotten, how local gastronomy can become an engine for tourism and how culinary experiences can be integrated into the tourist offer of the region.

The "conservation vs. evolution" challenge to preserve the authenticity of traditional recipes in the context of a constantly changing world will conclude the event.

The events organised under the Culinaria Banatica project are a unique opportunity to explore and enjoy the authentic gastronomy of the Banat region. The event is part of the national cultural programme Timisoara - European Capital of Culture 2023.
