A toboggan run will be built in the Parang mountain resort - Hunedoara County, on land that was leased out by the local authorities through public auction; the contractor is a private company that managed to secure the necessary European funding for the project.

"The owner of the land on which the toboggan run will be built belongs to the Petrosani City Hall. Parang needs such an investment in order to give tourism a boost, mainly during summer. The recreational facility will definitely attract more tourists, some even in the winter, because it will be available for use on less cold days," Petrosani mayor Tiberiu Iacob-Ridzi told AGERPRES on Tuesday.

The 1,200-meter-long track will sit in the Poienita area and will be accessible in all seasons, agerpres reports.

The project is now in the stage of having the construction permit issued, after which the procedures for starting the works will be initiated.

The mayor said that the winner of the land leasing auction will have to start works within a year at most, estimating that the investment will be ready in about 12 months from the issuance of the groundbreaking order; he also opined that this is "a concrete example of involvement and sustainable development in the area".
