Turnover volume in the trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles increased, in the first nine months of this year, both as gross series by 4.4%, and as series adjusted depending on the number of business days and seasonality by 4.1%, compared to the similar period in 2024, according to data published on Tuesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
Thus, in the reference interval January 1-September 30, 2025, increases were reported as gross series in: motor vehicle maintenance and repair activities (+19.3%), trade in motorcycles, related parts and accessories; maintenance and repair of motorcycles (+11.4%), trade in motor vehicles (+3.2%) and trade in parts and accessories for motor vehicles (+1.9%), agerpres reports.
At the same time, a 4.1% year-on-year jump in turnover was recorded, as adjusted series.
At the same time, in September 2025, compared to the previous month, the total volume of turnover in wholesale and retail trade, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, gross series, saw an increase of 13.9%, due to increases recorded in trade in motor vehicles (+17%), maintenance and repair activities of motor vehicles (+10.7%) and trade in parts and accessories for motor vehicles (+9.9%).
On the other hand, trade in motorcycles, related parts and accessories, respectively maintenance and repair of motorcycles decreased by 9%.
According to INS data, the turnover in wholesale and retail trade, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles increased by 1.2% in September 2025, as adjusted series, compared to August this year.
Compared to September last year, the business in the trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles saw an increase of 1.8% in September 2025, as gross series, due to the increases recorded in the activities of maintenance and repair of motor vehicles (+ 11.5%), trade in parts and accessories for motor vehicles (+ 2.3%) and trade in motor vehicles (+ 0.2%). A decrease of 1.5% was recorded, during the same period, in the trade in motorcycles, related parts and accessories, maintenance and repair of motorcycles.
The total turnover volume in the trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles was also on an upward trend, as adjusted series, respectively by 3.3%, in September 2025, compared to September 2024.
