A total of 62,556 companies were deregistered nationwide in the first nine months of 2025, 5.93% more against the same period last year, according to statistics from the National Trade Register Office (ONRC).
The most deregistrations were recorded in Bucharest, namely 11,183 (an increase by 23.04% compared to the first nine months of 2024), and in the counties of Cluj (3,161, +7.7%), Bihor (2,525, +27.65%), Constanta (2,496, +9.38%), Timis (2,362, -1.17%), Ilfov (2,290, +13.42%) and Iasi (2,281, +9.19%).
At the opposite side of the scale, the fewest deletions were recorded in the counties of Ialomita (371, down 6.79% compared to January - September 2024), Calarasi (404, +1%), Covasna (484, +1.68%), Giurgiu (502, +17.84%), Teleorman (533, +14.87%) and Caras-Severin (547, the same as in the first nine months of 2024).
More significant increases in the number of deregistrations were recorded in the counties of Olt (+31.72%), Bihor (+27.65%) and Bucharest (+23.04%), while the largest decreases were reported in Dambovita (-31.63%), Harghita (- 19.34%) and Botosani (-13.73%).
By field, the highest number of deregistrations was recorded in wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, respectively 14,124 (+3.88%, compared to the first nine months of 2024), agriculture, forestry and fishing (6,185, - 4.11%), and transport and storage (5,348, + 0.43%).
In September 2025, 6,025 company deregistrations were recorded, most in Bucharest (1,222) and in the counties of Cluj (294), Ilfov (261), Constanta (247), Bihor (234) and Timis (211).
