Turnover in industry decreases 0.2% in first four months of 2025

Turnover in industry decreased 0.2% in the first four months of 2025, with the most significant decline among the main industrial groups recorded in the energy industry, according to data the National Institute of Statistics (INS) released on Thursday.

According to the source, as of the end of April this year, manufacturing activity declined 0.8%, while the extractive industry registered an increase of 17%, compared to the same period in 2024.

Among the main industrial groups, the following sectors recorded decreases: the energy industry: -14.7%; the intermediate goods industry: -0.5%.

Conversely, increases were seen in: the durable goods industry: +13.4%; consumer goods industry: +3.3%; capital goods industry: +0.1%.

INS data also show that in April 2025 compared to April 2024, industrial turnover fell by 2.8% in nominal terms, mainly due to the decline in the manufacturing industry (-3.3%). However, the extractive industry recorded a 13.4% increase year-on-year.

By major industrial groups, the following declines were reported in: the intermediate goods industry: -7.3%; non-durable consumer goods industry: -1.6%; capital goods industry: -1%.

On the other hand, business turnover in: Durable goods industry increased by 7.3%, while the energy industry grew by 2.6%.

According to the statistics, industrial turnover in April 2025 compared to the previous month decreased by 6.4% in nominal terms, due to declines in: the extractive industry: -9.4%; manufacturing industry: -6.3%.

By industrial branches, the following declines in turnover were recorded in: capital goods industry: -9.3%; durable goods industry: -9.2%; intermediate goods industry: -7.2%; energy industry: -4.7%.

Meanwhile, the non-durable consumer goods industry registered a 1% increase.
