Two Romanian drug-trafficking leaders were tracked down in Spain, one of them having to serve a prison sentence of almost 7 years, the Romanian Police informed on Thursday.
The previous day, under the coordination of the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime, with the support of the Home Affairs Attaché of the Spanish Police in Bucharest, the Spanish National Police Unit specializing in locating wanted persons managed to track down and detain in Alicante two internationally wanted Romanian nationals, the Romanian Police said in a release.
"One of them is subject to a European Arrest Warrant for enforcing a custodial sentence of 6 years and 7 months, for drug trafficking and setting up an organized criminal group, the other one is an internationally wanted offender for whom a 30-day pre-trial arrest warrant was issued in absentia," the investigators mention.
The two are supposedly the leaders of previously dismantled crime groups and they will be brought to the country according to the legal procedures.
