Three Ukrainian nationals who crossed into Romania through the Maramures Mountains were rescued by mountain rescue teams and border police after being located by ROMATSA, the director of the Maramures County Public Service (SPJ), Dan Benga, reported on Wednesday.

"The three Ukrainian nationals were in the Maramures Mountains. The emergency call came from ROMATSA, which received an SOS signal from a Garmin device in the Vaser Valley, near the Paltin station. Rescue teams mobilized quickly. Mountain rescuers, accompanied by colleagues from the Viseu Border Police, traveled several kilometers by handcar to reach the young people who requested urgent help," Dan Benga said.

According to him, the three Ukrainian citizens, aged 24, 25, and 29, were handed over to the Border Police.

"The rescue-recovery operation lasted 5 hours and 50 minutes," Dan Benga added.
