UMF Carol Davila: 3,881 graduates to sit Residency Entrance Exam at Romexpo on Sunday

A total of 3,881 graduates will sit the Residency Entrance Exam in the capital on Sunday.

According to a press release from Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy (UMF), this year's residency admission exam, organised on Sunday by the Ministry of Health through UMF Carol Davila at the Romexpo Exhibition Centre in Bucharest, has 3,881 candidates enrolled from medicine, dental medicine, and pharmacy faculties, agerpres reports.

At national level, the residency exam, organised by the Ministry of Health, will take place in the university centres of Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Craiova, Iasi, Targu-Mures, and Timisoara, gathering 10,147 candidates (10,575 in 2024) competing for 5,079 positions (4,961 in 2024) and 295 posts (237 in 2024).

In the Bucharest university centre, at UMF Carol Davila, the largest number of candidates will sit the exam - over 37% of the national total, specifically 3,881: 2,678 in medicine, 809 in dental medicine, and 394 in pharmacy.

At national level, for the 4,354 medicine positions, 6,956 candidates are registered; for 464 dental medicine positions, 1,950 candidates; and for 261 pharmacy positions, 1,241 candidates, according to the source.

"For all graduates of medicine and pharmacy universities in the country, the Residency Exam represents more than just a test; it is practically the main gateway into the large community of health specialists and a defining stage in every doctor's career. This complex exam reflects not only years of intense preparation but also a deep commitment to science and to people. I wish all candidates success and trust that their results will reflect their effort and passion, and I am confident that this year our graduates will once again uphold the academic excellence tradition of UMF Carol Davila, achieving remarkable results and demonstrating the value of Romanian medical education. In the top five specialities by number of positions available: family medicine - 641 positions (555 in 2024), internal medicine - 190, cardiology - 189, anaesthesia and intensive care - 180, and general surgery - 181. At the opposite end: paediatric neurology - 5 positions, sports medicine - 6, occupational medicine expertise - 11, paediatric cardiology - 12, and nuclear medicine - 17.
