As a participant in the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB), UniCredit Bank will be able to provide access to the local capital market to any institutional investor that has Romania on their radar, UniCredit Bank CEO Mihaela Lupu said on Wednesday.

She promised the customers transferred to UniCredit from Alpha Bank, following the merger of the two entities, an improved financial experience thanks to state-of-the-art banking technology, complementing the range of investment products offered to the clients via BVB-listed instruments. "We now have a diversified offer, mixes with various asset classes, so that all our customers benefit from competitive returns, as well as from comfortable risk conditions. Beyond the diversity of products, we consider it an opportunity for the Romanian capital market that we will use the distribution capacity of our parent group, UniCredit, a participant in the Bucharest Stock Exchange. This means that we will be able to offer access to the local capital market to any institutional investor that has Romania on their radar. Any company or bond issue listed locally can be accessed by our group's customers, thus contributing to the development of the Romanian capital market," Lupu said at the event that marked the bank's debut as a participant in the Bucharest Stock Exchange's trading system, agerpres reports.

She mentioned that the new entity resulted from the merger with Alpha Bank will have a market share of 11% by total assets, 13% by total loans and 11% by total customer deposits, placing UniCredit third in market in terms of lending.

"Starting this week, the Alpha Trade capital trading app has become Unicredit Brokerage - UC Brokerage and can be accessed by customers directly on our website, unicredit.ro. With the completion of the merger process, we have become a stronger bank, better positioned for the future, as this consolidation benefits both our customers and partners," Mihaela Lupu said.

In his turn, BVB CEO Remus Vulpescu expressed his confidence that the Bucharest Stock Exchange will continue to grow in the times to come.

"It's a great joy to welcome UniCredit Bank, today, as a new participant in the Bucharest Stock Exchange trading system. Hopefully, UniCredit Bank, a powerful name in banking in several sectors, is also a reliable ally in the interesting times we are living. We are confident that things will go well, we are confident that the Stock Exchange will continue to grow and that we will share the success of the stock exchange with Unicredit Bank in the times to come," emphasized Vulpescu.
