Director of Sighisoara city's Youth Interethnic Cultural Educational Center Volker Reiter declared on Monday for AGERPRES that the ProEtnica 2025 Festival, which will take place August 27 - 31, will once again enjoy the High Patronage of the President of Romania.
"Last year's edition - the 20th - also unfolded under the High Patronage of the President of Romania, Mr. Klaus Iohannis. This is because the ProEtnica Festival aims to boost interethnic harmony in a pluralistic and democratic society by promoting meetings and interactions between people of various ethnic origins. The event offers Romania's national minorities a favorable setting for presenting and fostering their cultural identities, in the European spirit of unity in diversity," Volker Reiter said.
The Sighisoara Local Council unanimously approved in its meeting on Monday the draft decision regarding the organization of the ProEtnica 2025 Festival, arguing that the event is a meeting place for Romania's national minorities, a celebration of the diversity and cultural richness of national minorities together with ethnic Romanians, all equal-rights citizens of Romania.
The document also mentions that the ProEtnica Project has become a valuable tradition in the Romanian cultural landscape, the most important cultural manifestation of the country's national minorities, a true celebration of the promotion of intercultural dialogue, diversity in culture, art and spiritual life.
On June 20, the director of Sighisoara's Youth Interethnic Cultural Educational Center - the organizer of the festival - announced the signing of the financing contract with the Ministry of Culture for this year's edition of the event.
