The Government will discuss the new pension law in the sitting on Wednesday, Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă announced, adding that this bill aims to increase pensioners' incomes and remove inequities in the public pension system.
"Today, in the Government sitting, we are discussing the new pension law, an important bill for millions of Romanians, under which we want to increase the pensioners' incomes and remove inequities in the public pension system. Thus, we ensure equal pensions for equal work and correct the current inequities, when two persons, who had the same job and the same seniority benefit of different pensions," PM Dancila stated in the beginning of the Government sitting.
"This new pension law will be enforced by stages, as of 2019 until 2021, when it fully comes into force, which also means new growths of the pension point to 1,265 lei in 2019, 1,775 lei in 2020 and 1,875 lei in 2021. This law is complex, based on solid principles which can be supported in terms of the budget and which we consulted over both with trade unions and employers' associations.
