Border police officers from the Husi Border Police Sector found a Syrian citizen who attempted to illegally cross the Romanian state border, with the help of two citizens from the Republic of Moldova, by avoiding border control, with the intention of reaching Germany to look for a job.
According to a press release sent to AGERPRES by the representatives of the Iasi Territorial Inspectorate of the Border Police (ITPF), the migrant was taken over by the border authorities from the Republic of Moldova, and the transporters were detained.
"On February 19, a border police officer from the Husi Border Police Sector observed, using the specific surveillance technique that works on the principle of thermal imaging, towards the Rasesti locality, a man who was moving from the Albita Border Control Station towards the locality and could not justify his presence in the area. In the shortest possible time, the border police officers from the sector moved to the area and intercepted and identified the person in question. Because the man, a 35-year-old Syrian citizen who spoke English, did not have documents that could prove his legal entry into Romania, he was taken to the Husi Border Police Sector headquarters for further investigations," the same source states.
According to the ITPF Iasi, following the checks carried out, the border police established that the man was transported from the Republic of Moldova to Romania by two 19-year-old Moldovan citizens in a car, and when they arrived near the checkpoint, the Syrian jumped the perimeter fence to avoid border control, with the intention of illegally entering Romania. The transporters were supposed to pick him up from the border town of Rasesti and take him to the municipality of Vaslui.
The police continue their investigations, in order to establish the entire criminal activity in this case.
