Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan conveyed on Thursday that 27 March marks 108 years since the Union of Bessarabia with Romania - "the first cornerstone of national reunification." On this occasion, the prime minister laid wreaths at the graves of Gurie Grosu, Pantelimon Halippa, Daniel Ciugureanu and Ioan Pelivan, the architects of this historic moment.

"On 27 March, 108 years will have passed since the Union of Bessarabia with Romania. The Union act, adopted in Chisinau, was the first cornerstone laid for national reunification. Important figures of the Council of the Country, the architects of this historic act, rest at the Cernica Monastery," Bolojan wrote on his Facebook page.

The Prime Minister laid wreaths at their graves in a gesture of respect and gratitude for their sacrifice.

"Today, I laid wreaths at the graves of Gurie Grosu, Pantelimon Halippa, Daniel Ciugureanu and Ioan Pelivan, as a sign of respect and gratitude for their sacrifice. I thank Father Archimandrite Vasile Parjol, abbot of the Cernica Monastery, and Mr Mihai Mitu, Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Romania, for their dedication in honouring the memory of these forebears. May God grant eternal rest to the martyrs and heroes of our nation!," Ilie Bolojan also wrote.
