The 12th edition of the Veterans Relay, the largest educational and volunteer project dedicated to keeping alive the memory of heroes and supporting service members injured in military actions, missions and operations, will begin on Wednesday in Bucharest with Prince Radu welcoming in front of the Elisabeta Palace, on behalf of Crown Custodian Margareta, the runners who will race the relay, the Royal House informs.

Initiated in 2014 by Invictus Romania volunteers, the Veterans Relay has become a national tradition that brings together every year hundreds of volunteers - active and reserve military personnel, athletes, young people, teachers, entire families - around a symbolic mission: carrying the national flag, on foot or by cycling, from Bucharest to the northwestern town of Carei, the place where on October 25, 1944, the liberation of the national territory in WW II ended.

This year, the relay is taking place simultaneously along three symbolic routes - Blue, Yellow and Red - that cross the country from the south through the west, center and east, reaching all counties and stopping at the monuments of local heroes.

Throughout the month of October, teams of volunteers will bring the national colors to each community, transforming the run into a living message about respect, memory and unity.

The event will end on October 25, Romanian Army Day, at the Romanian Soldier's Memorial in Carei, with a solemn moment of gratitude for the heroes who fought for our freedom.

The Invictus Volunteers are supported, as every year, by central and local authorities, including the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of the Interior. Along the entire route, the participants will be accompanied by military police crews.

The Invictus Volunteers Association stands under the High Patronage of Prince Radu
