Organic agriculture offers a viable model of sustainable development, and the formation of young, well-informed and motivated generations represents an objective for the development of a healthy environment and safe and quality food, says Viorel Morărescu, director at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADR).

According to a press release sent to AGERPRES, the Ministry of Agriculture promotes organic farming among young people, through direct dialogue with ASE students.

"MADR continues its efforts to promote organic agriculture and strengthen dialogue with the academic environment. Today, May 19, 2025, Viorel Morărescu, director of the Policy Directorate in the Plant Sector and ambassador of organic agriculture in Romania, gave an interactive lecture to second-year students of the Faculty of Agri-Food and Environmental Economics within the Academy of Economic Studies," the press release states.

The event had as its central theme organic agriculture in Romania, addressing its importance in the context of the transition towards a sustainable, fair and environmentally friendly food system, the cited source specifies.

During the meeting, the main key aspects regarding public policies in the field, the benefits for operators registered in the ecological system, as well as the challenges and opportunities that have arisen in the context of new environmental requirements and the implementation of the European Green Deal were reviewed.
