The volume of construction works decreased in unadjusted terms by 4.9pct in January this year compared to the corresponding month of the previous year, but compared to December 2018 the decline in the construction works was 66.04pct, according to data released by the National Institute of Statistics on Friday.

The significant decrease in construction works in January compared to December was generated by the decline in the overhaul works by 78.4pct, the maintenance and repair works by 76pct and in the new construction works by 59.7pct.
By construction objects, decreases were registered in engineering construction works by 74.9pct, in residential buildings by 56.9pct and in non-residential buildings by 56.5pct.
As series adjusted according to the number of working days and seasonality, the volume of construction works overall increased by 5.1pct, a rise shown in the new construction works by 16.8pct.
Decreases were recorded in maintenance and repairs by 16.8pct and in overhaul works by 3.5pct.
