Voluntary pension funds in Romania held assets worth RON 6.26 billion at the end of June 2025, marking a 17.5% increase compared to the same date in 2024, according to a report by the Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF), inform Agerpres.

"Most investments were made locally (95%), with the majority denominated in lei (87%)," the report states.

Contributions in May totaled RON 76 million, with an average contribution of RON 167.

Government bonds accounted for the largest share of assets at RON 4.04 billion (64.7%), followed by shares at RON 1.6 billion (25.6%). Investment funds ranked third with RON 217.17 million (3.5%).

ASF data shows that voluntary pension funds had 912,931 participants as of June 2025.

The following pension funds are active in Pillar III: Azt Moderato, Azt Vivace, BCR Plus, Pensia Mea Plus, Esential, NN Activ, NN Optim, Pensia Mea, Raiffeisen Acumulare, and Stabil.
