Weather service to mark World Water Day, World Meteorological Day

The Romanian Watercourses National Administration (ANAR) and the National Weather Administration (ANM) is holding today an event dedicated to World Water Day and World Meteorological Day under the aegis of the Ministry of the Environment, Waterways and Forestry (MMAP).

"The two global themes proposed this year by the United Nations - Glacier Preservation for World Water Day and Closing the Early Warning Gaps Together for World Meteorological Day - highlight current problems regarding water resources, glacier preservation, combatting the effects of climate change and extreme hydrometeorological phenomena."

The conference will be attended by Minister of the Environment, Watercourses and Forestry Mircea Fechet; senior adviser with the Prime Minister's Chancellery Mihaela Frasineanu; ANM Director General Elena Mateescu; ANAR Director General Sorin Lucaci; Inspector General of the General Emergency Management Inspectorate (IGSU) Dan Paul Iamandi, and Chair of the National Regulatory Authority for Mining, Petroleum and Geological Storage of Carbon Dioxide (ANRMPSG) Adriana Petcu, along with many other specialists in the field.
