Romanian athlete Mihaela-Valentina Cambei won the silver medal in the snatch event, with 90 kg, in the 49 kg category, in the World Weightlifting Championships taking place in Bogota (Columbia), told Agerpres.
Cambei also established a new European record in snatch, following immediately after Belgian Nina Sterckz (89 kg).
Chinese Huihua Jiang won the gold medal, with 93 kg, while Zhihui Hou won the bronze, with 89 kg.
In the clean and jerk event, Camber had one single successful try, with 104 kg, finishing 8th, after missing at 107 and 108 kg.
There are 537 athletes participating in the Bogota hosted Championships, from 93 countries, 270 women and 267 men, with this being the first qualifying competition for the Paris Olympic games due in 2024. Romania is represented by 6 athletes, 4 women and 2 men.
