The wholesale trade turnover (excluding the trade of motor vehicles and motorcycles), gross series, recorded a decrease of 3.1% in January 2025 compared to the same month of the previous year, according to data the National Institute of Statistics (INS) published on Wednesday.
This decline was due to a decrease in the wholesale trade turnover of raw agricultural products and live animals (-33.3%), wholesale trade of other machinery, equipment, and furnishings (-3.4%), dedicated wholesale trade of other products (-3.1%), and wholesale trade of food products, beverages, and tobacco (-0.6%). Increases were recorded in: wholesale trade of computer and telecommunications equipment (+11.4%), non-dedicated wholesale trade (+8.7%), wholesale trade of non-food consumer goods (+2.9%), and wholesale trade intermediary activities (+2.4%).
The wholesale trade turnover (excluding motor vehicles and motorcycles), seasonally and working-day adjusted, in January 2025 compared to January 2024, dropped 3.2% overall.
In January 2025, compared to the previous month, the wholesale trade turnover (excluding motor vehicles and motorcycles), gross series, went down 13.4%, due to a decline in wholesale trade turnover of other machinery, equipment, and furnishings (-32.9%), wholesale trade of computer and telecommunications equipment (-29.0%), wholesale trade of food products, beverages, and tobacco (-20.5%), wholesale trade intermediary activities (-13.9%), wholesale trade of raw agricultural products and live animals (-12.4%), wholesale trade of non-food consumer goods (-6.1%), non-dedicated wholesale trade (-4.7%), and dedicated wholesale trade of other products (-1.7%).
The wholesale trade turnover (excluding motor vehicles and motorcycles), seasonally and working-day adjusted series, in January 2025 compared to the previous month, advanced 2.8% overall.
