Women's boxing: Romania's Sebe progresses to Nis worlds quarterfinals

Romanian boxer Crinuta Andra Nicoleta Sebe on Tuesday progressed to the quarterfinals of the welter category at the IBA Women's World Boxing Championships in Nis, Serbia, after defeating Puerto Rican Stephanie Pineiro Aquino on points (4-0).

In the quarterfinals, Sebe will meet Serbian Anastasija Lukajic on March 13, and a victory would secure her a medal.

In the light welter category, compatriot Loredana Andreea Marin lostin the round of 16 to Russian Elena Babicehva, on points (5-0).

Apart from Andra Sebe, Romania has lined up four more boxers for the Nis worlds: Ramona Manea (minimum), Stela Roxana Hamza (fly), Amalia Nita (middle) and Maria Cimpoieru (light heavy), who are accompanied by coaches Adrian and Mihaela Lacatus and Luminita Turcin, the 2009 light heavy European champion.
