Platform work must be regulated in Romania, given that there are several hundred thousand people working in this area, which is completely deregulated, said the president of the National Trade Union Bloc (BNS), Dumitru Costin, on Friday, after the meeting of the National Tripartite Council (CNT) for Social Dialogue.
"Romania has not yet transposed the directive on platform work. You saw an incident yesterday [Thursday, editor's note]. BNS completely disapproves of this type of behavior. Citizens who come to work in Romania come with a well-defined reason, they are subject to regulations, like any other citizen who has the right to work in Romania. What happened yesterday is a reprehensible gesture that we hope will not be repeated. Platform work must be regulated in Romania, we are already discussing several hundred thousand people who work in this area that is completely deregulated", mentioned Dumitru Costin.
As to the topic of taxation and labor market problems, the BNS proposed at the end of Friday's meeting a gathering strictly dedicated to this topic, with the participation of the Prime Minister, the Minister of Finance and the Minister of Labor, which will take place next week.
In this regard, the trade unionists are preparing a package of proposals.
"The Prime Minister accepted the BNS proposal. Next week, a separate meeting will take place on a day and at a time that will be communicated to you. For this, we are preparing a package of proposals. I could add here other elements that are missing from the reform package. Another topic that we will raise at this meeting is the regulation of work on platforms," added Dumitru Costin.
