World Children's Day marked at Victoria Governmental Palace with blue light
The Government will mark this year's World Children's Day by lighting up the Victoria Governmental Palace in blue, the symbolic colour of this important day.
According to a press release issued by the Executive, at the initiative of UNICEF, the World Children's Day is celebrated around the world every year on 20 November, and marks the adoption of the United Nations Declaration of the Rights of the Child in 1989, Romania being one of the first signatories.
"The Romanian Government is committed to protecting the rights of children, namely the right to a safe life, to education, to health and to offer equal development opportunities to every child. We are doing everything in our power to ensure a better future for our children and for society as a whole. Romania has taken important steps towards respecting children's rights. We have recently adopted the National Strategy for the Protection and Promotion of Children's Rights 2023-2027 and the National Action Plan for the Implementation of the Children's Guarantee, through which we want to ensure that the rights of all children are respected and provide support to those in vulnerable communities. We continue to work in this direction with all partners, civil society and children themselves to ensure a safe environment for all children. Every child is a source of joy, inspiration and hope for our future," Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu is quoted as saying in the press release.
The prime minister appreciates the involvement of civil society and the Government's collaboration with UNICEF Romania in promoting children's rights.
Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu wishes all children health, joy, confidence and much courage in the pursuit and fulfilment of their aspirations and ideals.
