WWII Western Front Romanian soldiers to be commemorated April 22- 28

Romanian soldiers who died in the Second World War will be commemorated, April 22 and 28, in a march called "In the footsteps of the Romanian heroes fallen on the Western Front - Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic," the Romanian Defence Ministry (MApN) reported on Thursday.

"This initiative of high significance honours the memory and sacrifice of the thousands of Romanian soldiers who fought heroically and gave their lives on the Western Front. The project will materialise by holding solemn commemorative ceremonies at four honorary cemeteries in the country and abroad, where the Romanian heroes who fell in the line on duty on the Western Front are buried, in impressive numbers," according to MApN.

The commemorative events will take place at the Cemetery of Honour of the Romanian Heroes of the Second World War in Oarba de Mures, at the Plot of Honor of the Romanian Heroes in Budapest, at the Cemetery of Honour of the Romanian Heroes in Zvolen, Czech Republic and at the Plot of Honour of the Romanian Heroes in the Central Cemetery in Brno (Czech Republic).

The attending delegation will be composed of approximately 65 people from the Department for Relations with Parliament and Quality of Life of the Personnel, the General Staff of Defence, the National Office for War Heroes, the Joint Logistic Command and the 30th Mihai Viteazul Guards Brigade. Four soldiers wounded in war zones will also be involved in the project, along with 12 military students.
