Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan on Wednesday conveyed to the members of the Jewish communities in Romania and around the world wishes for health, peace and joy on the Passover holiday, stressing that its significance goes beyond the religious dimension and is a message about dignity, responsibility and respect.
"We are on the eve of Passover, a holiday that speaks of freedom and the power to move forward. Its significance goes beyond the religious dimension. It is a message about dignity, responsibility and respect, values that concern us all, regardless of identity or faith. The seder invites us to reflect, and the curiosity of young people reminds us that the future is built through questions, through dialogue and through the desire to better understand the world around us," Bolojan said in his message.
In a context marked by uncertainties and tensions, these milestones become even more important, he added.
"We need trust, solidarity and genuine dialogue between communities, the basis of a balanced and open society," Bolojan said.
The Romanian government remains committed to defending the rights and freedoms of all citizens and ensuring the safety of each of us, Bolojan said.
In this context, he thanked the Jewish communities for their contribution to the development of Romania, and the Federation of Jewish Communities in Romania, for the important role in preserving identity, heritage and in supporting dialogue among communities.
"I appreciate the activity of MP Silviu Vexler to constantly support the efforts to combat anti-Semitism and preserve the memory of the Holocaust, including by strengthening the legislative framework."
"I want to extend to the members of the Jewish communities in Romania and around the world my most sincere wishes for health, peace and joy. May the spirit of Passover inspire us to remain united, responsible, and confident in the future. Hag Pesach Sameah!"
