The Romanian Government on Wednesday hosted a strategic B2B matchmaking meeting for companies operating in Ukraine's drone industry and Romanian defence companies.
The main objective of the meeting was to facilitate direct links between the business entities of Romania and Ukraine to boost technical dialogue and create a solid professional network.
Discussions focused on the development of projects and partnerships in the area of unmanned aircraft (UAVs) and advanced detection and countering systems (Anti-UAS).
The event represents an important step amid the recent signing of a strategic partnership between the two nations.
This initiative strengthens bilateral industrial cooperation and transforms the acquired technological expertise into concrete solutions for the collective security of NATO's Eastern flank. Through this approach, the Romanian Government reconfirms its commitment to supporting regional resilience and boosting the production of Romanian companies, in partnership with Ukraine, in high-tech sectors with high added value, while supporting their integration into the value chain generated by Ukraine.
Mihai Jurca, head of the Prime Minister's Chancellery, is quoted as saying that Romania's defence industry should develop by capitalising on Ukraine's experience.
"Strengthening national and regional security is one of the strategic priorities of the Romanian government, at the same time with the development of a competitive business environment capable of attracting and supporting investments in high-tech fields. We want to capitalise on the experience acquired on the battlefield by the Ukrainian partners and, together, to develop effective defence solutions adapted to current needs, which will contribute to strengthening national and regional security," Jurca is further quoted as saying.
