Romanian and Ukrainian children taking refuge in our country took part, at the Victoria Palace, in a drawing and painting contest with topics such as peace, friendship and love, within an event dedicated to the 1st of June, Children's Day.
It was organized by the Ministry of Family, Youth and Equal Opportunities and the Taxiul cu bomboane/ Taxi with candy Association.
About the event dubbed "Peace, friendship, love" spoke the Minister of Family, Youth and Equal Opportunities, Gabriela Firea, present at the Government with the ministers Sebastian Burduja and Florin Spataru, the spokesman of the Executive, Dan Carbunaru and the representative of the Association Taxiul cu bomboane.
"The Government of Romania is today the playground of children. We wanted the Victoria Palace to open for children from Romania and Ukraine who wanted to participate in a painting and drawing contest that has as theme peace, friendship and love. (...) There are children both younger and older, between 4 and 14 years old, who today chose to spend their day drawing and painting about peace, about love, about friendship. I am certain that many of them would have liked this day, and I refer to those from Ukraine, to spend it in their country with their families, with friends, with relatives, but, unfortunately, the war led them to flee together with their mothers, especially, with their grandmothers, with their aunts from their country," Firea said.
The Minister of Family pointed out that the Government continues to give, through certain measures, all the attention to the Ukrainian children, too, who are in a considerable number in our country.
"Romania is a friendly country, a country that takes care of the children in Romania, this is natural, but also for those from Ukraine who are on the territory of our country. (...) And not a few have passed through, there were 38,000 and there are now almost 40,000 children from Ukraine on the territory of Romania, of which 200 come from placement institutions in Ukraine, and Romania hosts them," Firea said.
At the end of the painting and drawing contest, the participating children received symbolic prizes from the organizers, consisting of books, sweets and other surprises.
