250 kg aerial bomb from WWII found in Giurgiu, near port

An unexploded aerial bomb from World War II, weighing approximately 250 kilograms was discovered on Monday morning near the Giurgiu Port, during some construction works.

"We were announced through a call at 112, that in the area of the Giurgiu Danube River Administration (ADDJ), while a team of workers carried out some construction works, digging some ditches respectively, a large projectile was discovered. Upon arriving at the scene, the pyrotechnics team of the Giurgiu Inspectorate for Emergency Situation (ISU) evacuated the area, (...) and established that there was an aerial bomb approximately 250 kilograms in weight from World War II," spokesman of the Giurgiu ISU Florin Negut stated for agerpres.

He says that currently, the pyrotechnical team of Giurgiu haven't found a projectile so large and currently they are searching for "a machinery to lift it in order to transport it to a polygon for detonation."
