931 new COVID-19 cases in over 40k tests done in past 24 hrs; 97 deaths and 706 COVID-19 patients in intensive care, including three children

As many as 931 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 have been recorded in the last 24 hours, with more than 40,000 tests being carried out, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reported on Friday, agerpres reports.

Of the 931 new cases, 17 are in reinfected patients, tested positive at a period of more than 180 days after the first pass through the disease.

As of Friday, 1,791,502 cases of COVID-19 have been registered in Romania, of which 10,601 are reinfected patients, tested positive at a period of more than 180 days after the first pass through the disease.

According to GCS, 1,711,942 patients were declared cured.

At the national level, 10,835,703 RT-PCR tests and 5,522,041 rapid antigen tests were processed.

In the last 24 hours, 12,636 RT-PCR tests were performed (5,891 based on case definition and medical protocol and 6,745 on request) and 27,662 rapid antigen tests.

Apart from the newly confirmed cases, following the retesting of patients who were already positive, 221 people were reconfirmed with COVID-19.

As many as 97 deaths - 43 men and 54 women - in patients infected with the novel coronavirus, 25 of which prior to the reference period, have been reported in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 57,531, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reported on Friday.

Of the 97 deaths, one was recorded in the age category 30-39 years, one in the age category 40-49 years, eight in the age category 50-59 years, 21 in the age category 60-69 years, 34 in the age category 70-79 years and 32 in the age category over 80 years.

According to the GCS, 92 of the deaths are in patients who have had comorbidities, three patients have not recorded comorbidities, and for two no comorbidities have been reported so far.

Of the total 97 deceased patients, 90 were unvaccinated and seven were vaccinated. The seven patients vaccinated were between the ages of 50-59 years and over 80 years. Six of the patients had comorbidites, and for one no comorbidity was reported.

A number of 4,394 people infected with SARS-CoV-2 are hospitalized in health units, of whom 84 are children, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) announced on Friday.

According to the GCS, 706 patients are admitted in intensive care, down from the previous day, three of whom are children.

Of the 706 patients admitted in ICUs, 68 had a certificate attesting to the vaccination.

In Romania, 22,149 people confirmed to be infected with the novel coronavirus are in isolation at home and 4,677 in institutional isolation.

At the same time, 56,348 people are in quarantine at home, and 53 in institutionalized quarantine.
