Acting Minister of National Defense, Radu Miruta, participated on Tuesday in the meeting of the Contact Group for Ukraine, held online, with discussions focusing on ways to strengthen international support for this country.

The meeting was also attended by the Chief of the Defense Staff, General Gheorghita Vlad.

The discussions focused on the developments in the security situation generated by the aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, as well as on ways to strengthen international support for this country, according to a press release from the Ministry of National Defense issued to AGERPRES.

The members of the Group reconfirmed their firm commitment to supporting Ukraine on multiple levels, including through contributions to joint initiatives of NATO and EU organizations, as well as through bilateral assistance and support measures.

At the same time, they emphasized the importance of unity and coordination between allies and partners regarding the provision of assistance, as well as the need to maintain long-term support, the cited source informs.

''Romania's participation in the Contact Group for Ukraine reflects our country's solidarity with the Ukrainian people and its commitment to defending democratic values and regional stability,'' the Ministry of National Defense reports.
