Romania's acting President Ilie Bolojan on Tuesday consulted with Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu on the agenda of the incoming European Council to be held in Brussels.

"Today I had a consultation with the Prime Minister of Romania, Marcel Ciolacu, on the agenda of the European Council on Thursday in Brussels. We discussed the main issues on the agenda: increasing European competitiveness, simplification and de-bureaucratisation, energy, economic development, investment and the need to invest in defence. We agreed on the position we will support, so that what we take up is put into practice," Bolojan wrote on Tuesday in a social media post.

He added that, regardless of who holds the positions of president or prime minister of Romania, when representing the country abroad, he must ensure that the commitments are respected and that Romania retains its credibility.

"Only this way can we correctly represent Romania and create better conditions for citizens. Collaboration and respect between institutions are necessary conditions to achieve these objectives," said Bolojan.
