Attorney General Augustin Lazar declares having taken note of the conclusions of the assessment presented by the Minister of Justice, Tudorel Toader, maintaining that the Public Ministry will fully observe the Constitutional Court's decision and will act to fulfill its role to represent the society's general interests and to protect the rule of law.
"The Attorney General of the Prosecutor's Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice, Augustin Lazar took note of the assessment's conclusions presented by Minister of Justice Tudorel Toader. In this context, the Attorney General reiterates the point of view that the Public Ministry will fully observe the Constitutional Court's decision and will act to fulfill the role to represent the society's general interests, in the judicial activity, and to protect the rule of law and the rights and freedoms of citizens," reads a message posted on the the Public Ministry's Facebook page.
Augustin Lazar's reaction comes after the Minister of Justice announced on Wednesday that it is not appropriate at this time to trigger the procedure of dismissal of the Attorney General and the Chief Prosecutor of the National Anti-corruption Directorate (DNA).
On the other hand, Tudorel Toader declared that DNA carried out an investigation outside the legal framework regarding the adoption by the Government of OUG 13 and the Public Ministry put pressure on members of the Executive.
