Romania's Attorney General Augustin Lazar said Wednesday that there is an open case involving MP Catalin Radulescu regarding public disturbance. "There is a an open case with the Criminal Prosecution Section regarding disturbance of public peace. There are some complaints that have generated ex-officio action, and they are many," said Lazar in reply to a question about the existence of a court file on Catalin Radulescu.

The General Prosecution Office has taken action on ex-officio to investigate an instance of public peace disturbance following incendiary statements by Radulescu and a court file was opened regarding the same matter. Radulescu, an MP of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) representing Arges County told daily Adevarul in a recent interview: "Why are people still gathering in Victoriei Square now and why are we not chasing them away with water cannons since there is no more reason for their protest anymore? We cannot turn the place into a derelict one; let us do what they do in France, America and anywhere else. We have asked for authorisation; they should do the same."

He went on to say that he possesses an AKM automatic rifle: "If someone comes up anymore with the idea to change this state for which we have fought, I will be ready to get out and shoot. Right away! I can get out wherever I want and if madness overcomes me, I can shoot wherever I want; it would be my decision and do that at my own risk." Later on, Radulescu claimed he received 150 death threats on Facebook, saying that he will sue all those who threatened him this way. Arges Police have also taken ex-officio action starting a probe into the observance of arms and ammunitions legislation after Radulescu said he has a lethal weapon.

"About public statements regarding the use by a public figure of a lethal weapon, we are hereby informing that the Arges County Police Inspectorate has taken ex-officio action and started a probe into the observance of Law 295/2004 concerning arms and ammunitions, as subsequently amended and supplemented ," the Arges County Police Inspectorate said Tuesday in a note posted on its website.
