Romania's Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Florin-Ionut Barbu, participates in a meeting of the Agriculture and Fisheries Council, which takes place on Monday in Brussels.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADR), the agenda of the event includes topics of interest for the future of European agriculture and farmers.
The council will discuss proposals for the future Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), with a focus on the recommendations presented by the European Commission. The exchange of views will focus on guidelines for the agricultural policy framework applicable after 2027.
Ministers will exchange views on the European Commission's report on the evaluation of the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive in the agricultural and food supply chain.
At an informal lunch, European officials will hold discussions on "EU strategic priorities for the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in 2026 and 2027".
The council will also address a number of items under the 'Any business' section. Romania will bring up the difficulties faced by the EU pig sector and the need for exceptional aid.
MADR says these meetings are essential to strengthening cooperation at European level and in actively supporting the interests of Romanian farmers in the process of developing and implementing the European Union's agricultural policies.
