Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Florin Barbu is attending on Monday the Agriculture and Fisheries Council meeting in Brussels, according to the Agriculture Ministry release.
Joining the minister is Daniela Rebega, Director General of the General Directorate for Rural Development - AM PNDR.
Within the public session, the Cypriot presidency will present its work programme and priorities for the first half of 2026. These will be discussed in the context of European policies on agriculture, fisheries and bioeconomy.
The Council will review proposals to amend the Organic Farming Regulation, focusing on rules concerning production, labelling, certification and trading, with the discussion preceded by a presentation from the European Commission.
Agriculture ministers from the member states will exchange views on the EU Bioeconomy Strategy, particularly aspects related to agriculture, forestry and fisheries. The results of this exchange of views will be used as input for the draft Council conclusions on the new EU Bioeconomy Strategy, to be subsequently approved by the Environment Council
The meeting will also include discussions on various topics of interest to the European agricultural sector, to be addressed under the "Any Other Business" items.
