SARO AI assistant, designed to interact with students and facilitate communication between young people and teaching staff, offering support, was launched on Wednesday at the Bucharest University of Economic Studies in the presence of Minister of Education and Research Daniel David.

The Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE) thus becomes the first university in Romania to implement this AI learning companion, through the Faculty of Marketing.

Every day, SARO monitors how students interact with learning platforms and communicates with them to assess their motivation. SARO will support students with motivational messages, reminders for assignments and exams, and, most importantly, with an empathic voice, present even when professors cannot be there.

At the same time, it provides teaching staff with an overview of the progress, involvement and real needs of the students.

Minister of Education and Research Daniel David voiced hope that technology will reach rural areas and disadvantaged regions so that disparities can be reduced or even eliminated.

In turn, ASE Vice-Rector Dorel Paraschiv said that by using digital tools, both the pass rate and student engagement can be increased.

He expressed his belief that SARO could be scaled to other universities in Romania and even to the primary education level.

SARO was developed by Digital Nation with the support of Google.org.
