Air passenger transport doubles in first 9 months of 2022

Air passenger transport increased, in the first nine months of this year, by 96.9%, compared to the similar period in 2021, from 7.992 million passengers to more than 15.738 million passengers, according to the data centralized by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

The largest shares in terms of passenger transport were registered at Henri Coanda-Bucharest airports, with 4,735,500 passengers embarked and 4,616,400 passengers disembarked, Avram Iancu-Cluj-Napoca, with 1,007,300 passengers embarked and 972,800 Iasi International Airport also disembarked, with 607,700 boarded passengers and 583,800 disembarked passengers.

In international passenger transport, the first ten airports of origin (from where the passengers disembarked in Romania originated), determined by the number of passengers in regular flights, are: London Luton - 634,253 passengers, Milan Bergamo -357,790 passengers, Vienna - 213,410, Munich - 210,704 passengers, Madrid Barajas - 207,364, Istanbul International - 205,518 passengers, Brussels Charleroi - 177,446 passengers, Barcelona - 172,974 passengers, Amsterdam Schipol -168,477, London Stansted 160,572 passengers.

By boarding numbers on regular flights, the ranking of destination airports is as follows: London-Luton (638,438 passengers), Milan Bergamo (372,795), Vienna (229,801), Munich (229,571), Madrid Barajas (208,420), Istanbul International (204,665), Brussels Charleroi (187,419 passengers), Amsterdam Schipol (184,928 passengers), Barcelona (176,763), London Stansted (164,209 passengers).

The countries most incoming air passengers arrived from were: Italy - 1,248,796 passengers, the United Kingdom - 1,172,902 passengers, Germany - 787,737 passengers, Spain - 683,713 passengers, France - 400,826 passengers, Turkey -296,802 passengers, Greece - 261,222 passengers, the Netherlands - 236,171 passengers, Belgium - 214,558 passengers, Austria - 213,410 passengers.

By country of destination, the most passengers on regular flights boarded for Italy (1,284,203 passengers), the United Kingdom (1,200,186 passengers), Germany (826,084 passengers), Spain (689,834 passengers), France (420,797 passengers ), Turkey (294,385 passengers), Greece (267,328 passengers), the Netherlands (257,787 passengers), Austria (229,801 passengers), Belgium (226,286 passengers).

In domestic traffic, Henri Coanda-Bucharest recorded 49.6% of the total number of passengers boarded, Avram Iancu-Cluj-Napoca - 15.9% and Traian Vuia-Timisoara -14.4%.AGERPRES
