The Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) Party, of which Save Romania Union (USR) is a member, is organising its first autumn council meeting in Bucharest on Friday and Saturday.

The event will bring together over 200 delegates from 60 parties across Europe. On the sidelines of the ALDE Council, USR will officially launch its candidates for the European Parliament elections.

ALDE co-chairs Timmy Dooley and Ilhan Kyuchyuk, Renew Europe president Stéphane Séjourné, USR leader Catalin Drula, ALDE Europe and USR vice-chair Dan Barna and mayor Elena Lasconi will give speeches.

On September 15, the National Bureau of USR decided, at the proposal of Catalin Drula, that the party's list of candidates for the European Parliamentary elections will be opened by Elena Lasconi, Dan Barna, Vlad Voiculescu and Vlad Botos.

The other candidates were decided following internal elections, held online between September 9-16. A total of 12,336 USR members cast their votes.

"USR will send to Brussels people with experience in administration, European funds, foreign policy and negotiation. The list of candidates for the European Parliament is further proof that USR offers Romania an honest and professional alternative on the political scene. The European Parliament elections in June will be the first electoral test of 2024, and USR's result will be the measure of our continued commitment to the modernization and development of Romania on European principles," said USR leader Catalin Drula.

Also, in early October, Drula declared that the discussions with Forta Dreptei/Force of the Right party and People's Movement Party (PMP) are moving in the direction of a joint list for the European Parliament elections.
