The Managing Authority for the Aquaculture and Fisheries Programme has launched for public consultation the Guide for Action 1.1.2. "Landing points and fishing shelters", to support the activity of fishermen in Romania and to stimulate, at national level, trade in local fishery products.

According to a press release of MADR, the total value provided in the Aquaculture and Fisheries Program (PAP) for this action is EUR 6,962,180, agerpres reports.

Funding is granted to the owners/managers of the fisheries infrastructure constructions and/or of the sites on which investments can be made for: construction, modernisation and equipping of landing points in order to increase economic and environmental sustainability, by optimising the use of resources and time for fishing activities and harvesting living aquatic resources; in order to further equip it with equipment and facilities to improve the control and data collection activities; investment in fisheries infrastructure for landing unwanted catches in order to eliminate their discards back into the sea.

Also, investments can be made in the establishment/modernisation/equipping, including repair, of fishing shelters for the protection of fishermen, boats and fishing gear; investments in adequate reception facilities for lost fishing gear and collected water waste.

According to MADR, eligible applicants for fishing shelters can be fishermen's associations, producer organisations, associations of producer organisations or interprofessional organisations recognised by the relevant authority, according to EU Regulation 1379/2013, small, medium-sized enterprises, micro-enterprises, fishing cooperative societies, authorised individuals, family businesses, independent enterprises, as well as central and local public administrations.

On the other hand, eligible applicants for landing points may be central and local public administrations.

Opinions/proposals/suggestions are expected throughout until July 6, 2025.

The total financial allocation for the 2021-2027 programming period allocated to the entire Fisheries and Aquaculture Programme is EUR 232.072 million, of which the EU contribution represents EUR162.45 million.

MADR says that the implementation of this programme aims at developing sustainable commercial fishing in the marine and inland waters; sustainable and competitive aquaculture that makes efficient use of available resources; organisation of the fisheries market, including strengthening fisheries organisations and supporting short marketing chains; developing fishing areas, highlighting the opportunities offered by the sustainable blue economy.
