Tennis player Ana Bogdan, world number 108, on Wednesday became the first Romanian to advance to the women's singles quarter-finals of the BRD Bucharest Open 2017 tournament, after defeating Turkey's Cagla Buyukakcay, world number 165, 6-4 7-5.
Bogdan won in 2 hours and 5 minutes and will receive 5,900 USD and 60 WTA singles points for having made it that far in the competition. Next, she meets the winner between top-seed Anastasija Sevastova (Latvia) and Danka Kovinic (Montenegro).
