The National Administration of Romanian Waters (ANAR) draws attention to the fact that seasonal activities such as fishing or walking on river banks are strictly prohibited during periods with hydrological warnings and children should not be left unattended.
"Today (Tuesday, editor's note), an incident was reported in the morning in the Calugarei - UAT Orodel area, Dolj county, where two fishermen fishing on the banks of the Desnaţui river were caught in the flood. Fortunately, no victims were recorded. We draw attention to the fact that, during periods of high water, signaled to the population through hydrological warnings, intensively publicized by the mass media, children should not be left unattended in the area of ??water courses, and seasonal activities such as fishing or walking on the banks of rivers are strictly prohibited. In the last 24 hours, significant amounts of precipitation and runoff from the slopes have been recorded in several river basins in Dolj and Gorj counties, where hydrological warnings are in force," ANAR transmitted in a statement. post published on Tuesday on the institution's Facebook page.
According to the cited source, significant amounts of precipitation were recorded in Gorj County, as follows: 58.7 l/sq m - S.H. Vaidei (Susita River); 58.5 l/sq m - S.H. Godinesti (Tismana River); 51.4 l/sq m - S.H. Celei (Orlea Stream); 48.2 l/sq m - S.H. Ohaba (Amaradia Stream); 48.2 l/sq m - S.H. Balanessti (Grui Stream).
In Gorj and Dolj counties, the "Apele Române" Jiu teams intervene to clear the drainage sections in the area of ??bridges and footbridges, restore access, place sandbag barriers to protect households, permanently monitor the hydrotechnical works under administration, and operate the reservoirs under administration in safe conditions, according to the provisions of the Regulations for operation in high water conditions.
Also, where the situation requires it, ice blockages that can cause flooding with local impact are eliminated.
According to current information, up to this time, no flooded households have been reported, only agricultural lands being affected.
ANAR specialists recommend that the population not cross/travel in the immediate vicinity of watercourses during periods of hydrological warnings, not cross roads or bridges covered by water, to constantly supervise children, and to follow the instructions of local authorities and intervention teams.
