Romanian tennis player Anca Todoni qualified on Wednesday for the quarterfinals of the WTA 125 tournament in Bari (Italy), with total prize money worth 100,000 euros, after defeating American player Elvina Kalieva 6-4, 6-2.
Anca Todoni (19, WTA's 179th) won in one hour and 43 minutes against the American (20, WTA's 213th) who had eliminated Irina Bara in the first round.
The Romanian secured a cheque for 3,478 euros and 27 WTA points.
Todoni will play in the quarterfinals against the winner of her compatriot Jaqueline Cristian (25, WTA's 69th), the third seeded, and German Eva Lys (22, WTA's 143th)
